We are delighted to announce that after tireless lobbying in numerous meetings spearheaded by Nepal Ireland Society, the Federal Parliament of Nepal has formally established Nepal Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group comprising 9 Honorable members of House of Representatives (Lower House) and National Assembly (Upper House) under the convenorship of Hon. Radha Kumari Gyawali who is also a former minister. It is another big milestone for Nepal Ireland Society after the formation of Ireland Nepal parliamentary Friendship group in Dáil Éireann (Irish Parliament) in 2017 which was the result of more than 2 years of incessant effort by Nepal Ireland Society.

With the establishment of Nepal Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group, Nepal-Ireland relations have entered into a new phase. We, at Nepal Ireland Society, strongly believe it will further foster the areas of co-operation between the two countries.

On 18th May 2019, We organised an interaction program in Kathmandu with the convener and a member (Member of Parliament Hon. Lal Prasad Sanwa Limbu) of Nepal-Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group. Also in attendance were former Prime Minister and Member of Parliament Hon. Madhav Kumar Nepal, former Finance Minister and Member of Parliament Hon. Surendra Pandey and Member of Parliament Hon. Dibya Mani Rajbhandari. Mr. Niall Kavanagh and Ms. Selena Foley who are Irish expats in Nepal were also present at the historic event.

At the interaction event, we also launched 'Nepal Health Book' which is the joint effort of Ireland-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group and Nepal Ireland Society. This book highlights the areas of possible cooperation between Nepal and Ireland in Nepal's health sector. The book was formally launched by former Prime Minister and Member of Parliament Hon. Madhav Kumar Nepal. At the event, president of Nepal Ireland Society Mr. Deepesh Man Shakya and General Secretary Mr. Gangaram Kandel provided an overview of society's effort in strengthening relations between Nepal and Ireland.
