UK VISA PROCEDURE
Following are the general steps you need to follow for
getting UK visa.
-
Decide which type of visa you want
to get. If you are going as a tourist then you will need
to apply for C-Visit Visa.
-
Make sure you have all the required
documents. Documents you need to submit for the visa are:-
-
Correct completed, dated and signed
visa application form. You need to fill up the Application
form VAF1 -non-settlement. Or you can apply visa online
at www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk
-
Letter from your college or work
confirming that you are a full time student/ worker
and your holiday. The departure date and the arrival
date should be noted in the letter.
-
Hostel booking to confirm your
stay in U.K. If you have some friends or relatives,
you can have one letter from them stating that you
are going to stay in their place while you are in
U.K.
-
Current bank statement (3 months)
to show that you have sufficient fund to maintain
your stay in U.K.
-
2 Passport Size photographs.
-
You should have Irish- re-entry
visa before you apply for the U.K visa.
-
Letter from tax office as a proof
of address. If you have contract letter from your
land lord that is fine.
-
Correct visa fees. For the latest
fees information please visit www.britishembassy.ie
. You can only use cash or bank drafts. No credit
cards or debit cards. Checks can be used only with
the check guarantee card.
-
You can apply for U.K visa 3 months
prior to your departure date. So I would recommend you
to apply as early as you can.
-
When you have all the required documents
you can go to embassy early in the morning say around
5'O clock and queue for 3 hours. Alternatively if you
had U.K visa previously you can apply visa through post.
-
Token number will be distributed to
first 50 people on the queue at 8'O clock
- Door opens at 9, O clock and you have to pass the security
check and wait in the waiting hall till your number is called.
- Once your number is called, give your application form
along with all documents to the visa officer. Visa officer
may ask few questions regarding your visit. If they are
not satisfied they may ask further documentations.
- Visa will be send back to your address once it is approved.
It may take 3-4 days. In my case I got the passport next
day by registered mail.
- If you are applying for UK visa for first time, I would
suggest applying for 6 months visa only and in next time
you can apply for 1 year or more.
Note : There
is no necessary to purchase air ticket or any transport
ticket to apply for U.K Visa. Once visa is approved you
can purchase ticket.
