APPLYING FOR A PROVISIONAL DRIVING LICENCE If you wish to have provisional license then please
follow the following steps:
First get prepared for the theory
test. Theory test books and Cds are available from the
Eason's.
If you think you are well prepared
then get your theory test exam booked . You can do this
by filling up the form (you can get it from local garda
station) or ring the free phone number.

The current fees for the theory test is €34.00 which
can be paid by Bank Draft, postal order or credit cards/debit
cards.
You will get an appointment letter
from the driver theory test office within a week with
your test center and appointment number.
Get to the test center 10-15 minutes
before
When you finish the exam right after
10-15 minutes they will give you theory test certificates.
If you get 35 or more marks then
you can apply for license from the local motor tax office.
You should have eye sight test from
the optician.
Two Passport Size photographs are
also needed.
Once everything is ready go to the
local motor tax office and apply for it. You need to
fill up one application form there.
You also need to pay €15.00
for the driving license charge.
You will get your license back to
your address within 3 working days.
